Lead is an element which is present in all environments where men are
living, working and traveling. Lead poisoning is a process by which lead
is absorbed in to the body of individuals. This is creating too much concern
regarding the health of family and individuals. Even a small quantity
of lead is sufficient to create too much health problems. Dust and muddy
environments, paints which contain lead as a key constituent and other
lead related environments are the main sources from where lead has been
poisoning human beings. Other main sources of lead poisoning are old houses,
cosmetics and toys. Since lead is found almost in all environments where
people have been experiencing, it is better to take suitable precautions
to avoid poisoning from environments.
Expecting mothers and their fetus, newly born babies and children are
very easily affected by the poisoning from lead associated environments.
The presence of lead in the body act inversely on the body system of individuals
when there is no sufficient quantity of nutritive elements inside their
body. The common nutritive elements are iron, zinc, vitamins and calcium.
Hence the absence of adequate quantity of such elements increases the
chances to get poisoned by pregnant women and children. If the mother
is suffering from lead poisoning then there are high probabilities to
get these babies poisoned from lactating process. Lead poisoning is fatal
to children since their brain and nervous systems are in the developmental
stages. More over their cells and tissues are more sensitive and suffer
lead poisoning from the environment than adults. Certain children have
the habit of sucking or chewing the articles available from the environments.
This process forces the children to consume lead poison unknowingly. Hence
children should be discouraged or warned against such habits.
People who have been involving in works associated with lead are the other
persons who may get poisoned easily. Such people should use separate dresses
for their works and should be washed them separately. After their daily
work they should take proper bath and make sure that their hands and body
are free from lead poison. Usually the water gets contaminated with lead
if only old type metallic tanks and water pipes are in use. In such a
situation it is better to replace such metallic utensils with plastic
or other lead free items.
In children the presence of lead in their blood stream will develop retarded
growth and learning disability. In pregnant women the lead poisoning will
result premature destruction of the fetus. The very common problems exhibiting
due to the presence of lead poisoning is muscular and abdominal pains,
debility and abnormal behavior problems. High quantity of lead poison
will result paralysis or death of the individual. The lead poisoning will
not develop symptoms instantly. It will take some time to develop physical
symptoms in the body of human beings. Hence, it is better to consult a
doctor if the individual has any doubt regarding the contamination of
lead in the blood. But precaution is the best method to avoid the lead
poisoning for the whole family. Every member of the family are bound the
follow the precautions very strictly. Thus the whole family can be protected
from lead poisoning without any cost.
